This organization does important work, but they are very disorganized. I was invited to a virtual interview over the phone shortly after submitting my application. The person who invited me did not specify if this would be a screening, individual interview, panel interview, etc. I received a confirmation email and zoom link two days later.
30 minutes before my interview was scheduled to begin, I received an email with the 10 interview questions I would be asked. I found this to be less helpful than not receiving the questions at all, because it left me feeling rushed and flustered, which absolutely came across in the interview.
The interview turned out to be a panel of five staff members, which would have been nice to know ahead of time. They pulled up the questions to follow along on screen, but the document they showed included another candidate's name and interview time, which I found extremely unprofessional and awkward.
At the end of the interview, I was told I would be hearing from them "soon." They did not explain any next steps or timelines. I fully expected to never hear from them again, so I was surprised when I received a follow up email the following week, but not surprised that it was a rejection notice.
It's clear that there is a lack of organization and communication within this organization. Also, the pay they were offering was quite low, but I was desperate to leave my current role and was interested in working for an organization that helps marginalized members of my community. Ultimately, I feel like I dodged a bullet.
