      Sales Associate Interview

      14 Jan 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at InMotion Hosting (New York, NY)

      Interview

I applied through Indeed, and was emailed a few days later with a request to complete a video interview. The fact that it wasn't a person to person or even a phone screening was unusual, but nevertheless I continued on with the process. My expectation was that I would be facetiming with a hiring manager from inmotion, but soon found out that was not the case. Instead I was answering basic interview questions off of a screen. Nothing different from the normal (when can you start, how would you deal with a difficult customer) jazz. Now i am currently employed and have years of sales experience, and the reason I applied for inmotion was because I thought they were different from a traditional sales department. They seemed more tech based, and based off of the video you receive upon receiving the initial invitation to the web interview it looked to be more like a more personal/ family type environment between coworkers. I was looking forward to be able to meet and greet with the people who managed such a lovely environment, but instead I got to answer generic interview questions to my iphone. Maybe i'm just bitter because I wasn't offered a position, but honestly i've never felt more disconnected in the midst of an interview process that I did with InMotion. Its disheartening, and makes me wonder what the level of communication within the company is, if they don't even take the time to talk to potential life long employees. I'm all for screening out the crazies, but It just feels that if you are interested in a person, you would at least have a conversation with them. When all is said and done i'm in no way bashing or bad mouthing inmotion. Honestly what do I know about the hiring process, I have never had to hire anyone. This is all an opinion and given the opportunity I would still jump at a chance to work for them, and be able to learn more about the web hosting business, but would hope that there's a higher quality of communication from within then there is for their interview process.
