I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN) in Oct 2011
Interview
On an average it takes about 2 months from the time you apply for the job till you get a response. I had applied for at least 8 positions, out of 8, 2 were cancelled and nothing happened. Other 2 jobs were cancelled after they took my phone screen, & I was never informed about that. 1 job I wasn't short-listed. In all for 3 jobs I was interviewed.
1 of them I was never informed about the results, even after repeated querying. At this interview apart from technical interviews, I was asked about my Visa status, and when I told that I would need a sponsorship after 2 years, the interviewer told me to marry an American citizen, and get a green card, apparently making fun of me. I considered it disrespectful. I won't suggest that place for immigrants.
One of them did the something similar, and I was told that people of my ethnicity usually leave the job for higher pay. And was asked would you do the same. I think that was the criteria for them to hire.
At the third place, I was initially told that I was among the 3 finalists, and they chose some other candidate, because he his work experience in educational institute, and I didn't had. I made them realize that all my technical experience was in educational institutes; I was told that the chosen candidate had 15 years of experience. Though the job was advertised as entry level.
In all I would say Indiana University is not a good place to work.
