Interview
Very quick and honest about the needs of the position and necessary qualifications to fulfill employment opportunity. Flexibility dependent on the needs of the position itself. Private health care for full-timers. Wonderful management team and genuinely happy coworkers.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Integrated Security Technologies (Honolulu, HI) in Mar 2016
Interview
I participated in a 3 part interview process. Since my interview the process has changed a bit, but essentially remains the same. Initially, my first interview was with our President and Owner, Christine Lanning. She and I met for lunch and talked for about an hour. At the end of the interview, she let me know that she liked what I could bring to the table and asked if I'd be willing to meet with the other members of the Account Management team.
My second interview was with the two other members of the Account Management team at the time. Both shared their experiences with me, and I was allowed to ask questions about their expectations of me, what I would be doing, etc. Both were very honest about their opinions of the company and what the expectations of me were. After meeting with both Account Managers, Christine contacted me and let me know that she wanted me to attend one last interview with the Implementation Team, Office Manager, and Account Management team.
In my third interview, I had a chance to ask questions again (about the company and the role i was applying for)... this time with the whole team. The implementation team (at the time) was comprised of a Sales Engineer, an Installation Manager, and a Systems Analyst/IT. As was the case in every interview with IST prior, the team was very helpful in painting a realistic picture of the expectations IST had for me. They were honest about the work I'd have to put in to catch up, and what they'd do to help me succeed.
I've been with IST now for almost 2 years. Since my interview, I have't known another candidate to have a 3rd interview like mine. It is my understanding that the reason of my 3rd interview being with so many people was because they had a hard time deciding between myself and the candidate I was "up against".
The interview process is built the way it is to ensure that we hire the right person for the right seat. It also puts the responsibility on current employees to select an individual that they believe can do the job in question, and one that they would support to ensure that individual succeeds. This in turn allows the interviewee to ask candid questions about what each employee likes about IST, and what they don't.
