      Product Manager Interview

      3 Jul 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at IntelliSense.io (London, England) in Jun 2024

      Interview

1 - Call with HR: first of all, this had to be rescheduled a number of times over the course of a month (yes, HR screening after a month of applying). I found it a little frustrating. Questions were very standard: why are you interested in the role etc. 2 - Call with the Hiring Manager: PM competency questions 3 - Take Home Task: tell us what app you would build if you had resources for 6 months. the app is supposed to address a specific challenge within the mining value chain (n/a for the platform PM which I applied for). They advertise themselves as "built by the miners for the miners" and indeed many of the employees are from the industry. I thought this could be an issue in my case and it turned out to be as they decided to move forward with other candidates whose experiences more closely align with their needs, so I would not recommend people without mining background to apply for a product role at this company. Working on a case study was not the best use of my time, but alas, it happens.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How would you make money with this app you propose given our clients' assets have varying sizes (a small operator with a few assets and big operator with bigger assets, hence bigger data sets)

Thank you for taking the time to provide detailed feedback on your interview experience with us. We greatly value the insights and perspectives of all candidates, as they help us improve our recruitment process. We receive a high volume of applications and aim to give each applicant a fair review and consideration. Sometimes this leads to slower response times than planned, and we appreciate all candidates' patience and understanding. We will take your feedback on board to improve our screening processes and speed up our response time. Regarding the take-home task, we want to clarify that the role did not require a background in mining. The caliber of candidates we interviewed for this role was exceptionally high, and only a selected few, including yourself, were invited to do the test project. Sometimes we have to make tough choices between talented candidates. We will work on improving our project brief and our requirements.
