The interview felt like a bait-and-switch. I was supposed to be interviewing for a research role.
At the beginning of the interview, I was told that the role would actually involve almost solely administrative tasks and that if toward the end of the internship, staff needed help with research then I would have some research-related work, but that was unlikely to happen. I continued regardless.
I had prepared for an interview regarding my research experience, so this caught me off guard. I was only asked a couple of simple but sometimes strange questions. One had to do with walking through my entire resume and detailing how each experience related to administrative work. The strange one was asking me how I communicate, without clarifying further. That felt like the kind of skill that should be shown rather than told.
The interview felt very scripted as well.
