      Environmental Compliance Specialist Interview

      6 May 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Invenergy (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2021

      Interview

I applied, and the recruiter called me for a 30min discussion. The recruiter asked standard questions like what I was looking for in a new role and to go over my resume. Then we scheduled a zoom call interview with 4 people at 30mins each. Three people were with the Environmental group, and one person was with the Development group. The three environmental people asked almost the same questions (tell me about yourself, take me through your resume, tell me about your experience with environmental surveys, etc.), and they all asked about knowledge about the Wind Energy Guidelines (WEG) specifically. Even though there are several other important regulations related to the position's responsibilities, they all fixated on the WEG as if they're impossible to understand unless you've worked directly with them for years, even if you have related experience. Anyways, the development person only asked really negative questions (tell me your worst mistake, tell me your weaknesses), and I felt that they were just looking for a reason not to hire me with all those really negative questions, even though I tried to steer the conversation back toward my qualifications and experience. The next day, I interviewed with the VP of environmental, and they seemed to appreciate my skills and experience in relation to the position much more than everyone else and didn't fixate on one regulation/guideline. Overall, it seemed weird that I had all the qualifications listed in the job posting, but yet I never got an answer regarding whether they were interested or not from the company after the interview, even after I followed-up a couple times.
