Group interview. Interviewer asked questions and whoever wanted to answer first would answer and so on. Standard retail questions were asked like what to do in certain situations so they can see how prepared you’ve are.

I applied online and It was a group interview and then after it was a quick one on one to tell us if they would hire us or not. The group interview was me and 11 other people and they were only hiring 3. I was very intimidated because they were all makeup artists and I was not. Then she went around in a circle and asked us all a different question from a sheet of paper, so everybody had a on the spot different question. She then talked about Sephora and what they are looking for. Not very interactive as I thought it would be. Afterwards she started calling people one by one up to her office, asked them one or two questions, then said if we were hired or not. I got hired!

Interview
I went through numerous interviews. The manager made me feel very calm and chill. I was offered a position pending a background check. I have no record so this should be a piece of cake right? Nope, my background check was taking seemingly longer than normal and every time I called to check in I was told it hadn’t come back yet/“probably backed up in the system”. Turns out that JCPenny has a 2 week policy where if the check doesn’t come back within that time they move on with another candidate. They never informed me of this and it went on for over a month before they did. Not only that, but turns out my background check did come back in time, they just “weren’t aware of it”. My advice would be to not be afraid to check in and keep the lines of communication open during the hiring process.

Interview
It was about 15 minutes long and they kept asking me to work the dock (stock) even though I had applied for sales. My background was and has been in sales so I was confused as to why she wanted me there. When I said no she then proceeded to ask me if I would be interested in a home decor position instead. Not the position I applied for.
