The entire process took approximately four weeks from the initial application to the final decision. It was well-structured and professionally managed at every stage.
HR Screening (30 minutes): A week after applying, an HR representative contacted me for an initial phone screen. This was a standard conversation covering my resume, confirming my interest in the role, discussing salary expectations, and outlining the next steps. They were clear about the interview structure and what to expect.
Hiring Manager Interview (1 hour): The second stage was a video call with the hiring manager. This was a much deeper dive into my experience. The conversation was split between behavioral questions and specific examples from my past projects. The manager was interested in my methodology for gathering requirements, managing stakeholders, and handling conflicting priorities.
Virtual "Superday" (3 hours): The final round consisted of three back-to-back interviews, each lasting about an hour, with different members of the team.
Interview 1 (VP, Product Owner): This was a case study-based interview. I was presented with a business problem related to improving the client reporting system and was asked to walk through how I would approach it as a BA. The focus was on my thought process, the questions I asked, and how I would structure the project from discovery to implementation.
Interview 2 (Senior BA & Lead Developer): This round was more technical. It included a practical SQL test where I had to write a few queries on a shared screen to join tables and filter data based on a given scenario. We also discussed data modeling and my experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
Interview 3 (Director, Head of Department): This felt like the final culture and fit interview. The questions were high-level and focused on my career goals, why I wanted to work at JP Morgan, and how I handle high-pressure environments.
Outcome: I received a polite and professional rejection email about five business days after the final round. While I was disappointed, the communication was timely.
