I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at James Beard Foundation in Nov 2022
Interview
Four words to describe my experience interviewing with the James Beard Foundation...Huge Waste of Time! A member of the People and Culture team reached out for an initial interview and we had a very pleasant conversation. I followed up with her a week or two later...only to be met with crickets.
If I wasn’t right for the position that's okay, not everyone's going to be the perfect fit - but not sending a simple rejection email after I invested so much of my time interviewing and preparing is very rude to your candidates. It’s incredibly disrespectful to ghost people like that.
During the pandemic, I thought we all learned a little something about treating human beings better! So this shows me that this is not a company that would be a considerate employer. So thank you for helping me dodge a major bullet. I can take time to find an actual good next step than rush into ANOTHER bad workplace culture and be stuck there!
This is regarding the job application process on Indeed. As per the EEOC in the US, it is illegal to request an applicant to submit a photo along with a job application. Also, the survey you send the applicant after applying clearly asks for the applicant’s age. How is this allowed? Both the Foundation and Indeed are complicit in this discriminatory practice.

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at James Beard Foundation (New York, NY) in Nov 2021
Interview
Very involved interview process - more than 4 rounds with approximately 10 individuals of various levels in the organization.
Asked good questions and surprisingly offered a call when not selected for the position to give feedback. I was impressed.
