I applied through university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Jet (San Bruno, CA) in Nov 2017

      Interview

This is about the interview process AND the sign-on/offer acceptance process. I applied through my school's job posting site and I was contacted by a recruiter. There were some general questions about my internship experiences and she went over the job description, the salary, benefits, the work culture. It was pretty general and I think she wanted to make sure that I wasn't crazy and actually was interested in the job. Afterwards, she sent me a personality/behavioral assessment. It was basically a game and pretty easy. Nothing to stress about or study for. After a week, they scheduled me for an in-person interview in the San Bruno office. HOWEVER, I had requested on my application to be in the Hoboken office and had emailed the recruiter I spoke with multiple times about my location preference. She basically ignored my question and talked about other things about the process. I thought it was kinda shady because of how indirect she was. I had assumed that I would be able to talk about the location preference in the in-person so I flew to San Bruno. BIG MISTAKE! If I could go back, I would definitely be more aggressive and direct with what I wanted. The interview was in three parts with three different managers in different parts of the business. They give you the names of the people you'll be meeting with beforehand so make sure to do your LinkedIn research on them and look at their experiences. If there's a category you want to be in and the manager has worked in that category, it should be good to take note of that. Anyways, the first part of the interview was a simple "case-like" question. They gave you an iPad with a picture of the Walmart website after you've searched for an item so there are filters on the side, product interface stuff, and other ads, etc. You'll be asked to assess what factors you would change to make it easier for the consumer to buy things. You can change mostly everything on the page but just ask if you have questions. The second part of the interview was an extension of the "case" but there were only like 2 questions. It was something like "What factors do you think are important in success in ecommerce?" And I was asked to relate it back to the "case" I just did beforehand. The third part of the interview was just standard behavioral questions. There was a lot of "Tell me a time when..." They got kinda repetitive after like 7 questions. They were super nice and accommodating and actually wanted to get to know me. After about less than 2 weeks, I get an offer in my email and I had about a month to accept or reject. I also was able to ask to get the offer extended a week or two to think about it. I, again, asked another recruiter I was connected with about my location preference and to change my offer from San Bruno to Hoboken. She said she'd "circle back" to me and she basically said what the recruiter said and kinda brushed me off. There was "nothing she could do," even though the company was still recruiting for the same positions in the Hoboken office. She told me on the phone that the Hoboken office was full, which clearly wasn't true. It was super confusing and I felt like I was never taken seriously and no one was super direct with me throughout the process. It was funny because one of the reasons I signed was because one of the interviewers told me that he had moved companies from Amazon because Walmart actually cared about the people. I certainly didn't feel that way during the recruiting process and now I'm apprehensive on working at the company, even though I've signed already. One thing I really appreciated is is that they really want people to sign so they had a current Category Specialist reach out to me and talk about her experiences. She was extremely nice and open and told me a lot about her time there. I really loved her! At the same time, another thing that bothered me was that the company reimbursed you with any travel costs you incurred over the 2 travel days. I interviewed the first week of November and it's April and I still haven't received my reimbursement check in the mail, even though they promise to process a check and mail it out in 6 weeks. It's been more than 20 weeks.... I'm just sitting here scratching my head over how a human resources team can be this incompetent and noncommunicative with a new hire!! Will I be similarly brushed off and ignored on the job?

I found it to be positive and helpful. I learned a lot about the role and the culture. There were multiple rounds and I got to meet with several managers. I would recommend the role/interview process to my peers.

Seamless but challenging. The questions are geared to make you think critically while the answers are not necessarily the end goal. The more research you do the better. Good people
