HR person interviewed me first. Then a panel of technical experts in my area asked questions. They were quite informal. Then I met the hiring manager. All were very curtious. The questions asked at senior level were to test comfort in the subject matter rather than deep technical knowledge. Projects within APL typically cover a wide range of technical areas. Clearly the hiring process is looking for strong technical as well as interpersonal skills.
