I applied online. I interviewed at Johnson Matthey (Billingham, England) in Mar 2018
Interview
Very positive process which began with a telephone interview. Several managers were connected to the line which was daunting but they completely understood and were very friendly. This was a process where they got to know you and what you know about JM. Being nervous was completely fine as long as you knew your stuff and came across well. Around 5 days later an invitation to a face to face interview was issued by email. HR were very thorough and in turn allowed me to prepare efficiently. The interview consisted of a presentation on research I carried out and they asked me questions throughout my presentation and then questions on catalysis. The second interview was called a ‘management interview’ which was based around my aspirations, what I knew about JM, what I didn’t like in my current role, what I seek in this role, where do I see myself in 5 years time. The interview concluded with a tour of the site, again the team were very friendly and I got the sense that they wanted you to succeed, they would reiterate that they weren’t trying to trip me up and don’t be put off by them taking notes etc. Overall a very positive experience from JM!
