      Software Engineer In Test Interview

      6 Jul 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Kabbage

      Interview

My resume was submitted by a recruiter for a back-end engineer role, but i was interviewed for an engineer in test role due to my SoapUI testing experience. Even though the description of the role focused on test automation, i was told that they wanted someone with more manual test experience. The developer i interviewed with let me know that while they have a backlog of automaton tasks, they are actually moving towards more manual testing. It didn't sound like there would be flexibility to move out of the test role Also Kabbage does contact to hire and i didn't get the impression that converting to full time is as much of a sure thing as the recruiter made it sound.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kabbage in Jun 2016

      Interview

Not a professional shop - too much cursing and demanded to see my W4's. Recruiter was loud and basically only wanted to hear himself speak. The teams seemed friendly enough when I went for 3rd round panel interview. Their salary came in below market - which I can understand if they were just on their Series A funding, but they are at Series E and high developed so they should be able to compete with the market rates. Went with a different offer.

Thanks for sharing your interview experience with us. We are genuinely interested in the feedback as we’re committed to constant improvement. Kabbage is a bullshit-free zone; we realize that it’s not for everyone. At Kabbage, we speak freely and every member of our team has a voice at the table. We’ve established trust as the foundation of our open environment and we believe trust is earned through positive, authentic exchanges. Part of our pre-offer process is to validate work history and earnings. That point is generally not an issue for folks. We’re pretty proud of our comp package and the ownership that all team members enjoy. When Kabbage wins, we all win and that makes it all the more fun!

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kabbage (Atlanta, GA) in Jun 2016

      Interview

I found an ad on Glassdoor, applied, and I was contacted by an internal recruiter really fast. Following scheduling through a link, I did a 20 min interview where we dug into my experience about Selenium and Protractor. I have experience in Javascript, Node, and AngularJS so I use Protractor a lot of the time. Really interested to learn how Kabbage is scaling their platform in Angular. This manager was really excited about my depth of libraries and test experiences. Totally different than my 2nd interview where the "Lead"felt threatened about my automated testing experience. She was not excited to speak with me. Two questions in, and I felt like she felt that I was a burden. I wasn't trying to waste your time - I just wanted to be thourough.

Thanks for your feedback about our interview process. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. This is important to us — we’ve established this level of trust as the foundation of our open environment, which is one of our core values at Kabbage. We realize that collaborating transparently requires a healthy balance of being honest and authentic while respecting one another. In fact, our hiring manager felt that you could be a strong fit for future opportunities with our team. In your thoroughness, she delighted in learning about your strengths in automation, C# and SQL. But because we are looking for someone to focus on a combination of manual testing and test automation, you weren’t the ideal fit for this role. We wish you all the best and will be back in touch if a role exclusively requiring test automation presents itself.
