Interview
Kanopi takes a slow and thoughtful approach to their interviews. They want to ensure that both your skills and your personality are a perfect match for the position. The process starts with a questionnaire, then a zoom chat and then a fictitious scenario.

Interview
After speaking with a recruiter for a couple weeks and answering some preliminary written questions, I was asked to prepare a presentation for my first interview. I put a lot of work into it and made sure to include everything that was asked of me. Towards the end of the interview, I was asked if I had any questions. My main question was what step in the interview process I was at. He told me that the process was lengthy, and that I was not even at step 1. I was at "step 0". I felt an air of distrust the entire interview, and I wonder why HR was involved in "step 0", silent in the background taking notes. This interview was very uncomfortable for me and felt demeaning. On paper, this company seems wonderful to work for. But because of this unwelcoming interview, I couldn't imagine working for someone who makes me feel so insignificant. I withdrew myself from the hiring process after this experience.

Interview
After a basic HR screening they jumped straight to a 3 hour code test. The task was to simply code up as much of one-page Sketch design as possible.
Unfortunately, the conditions of the test required that you use their spaghetti code theme framework (101 theme files, 31,559 dependencies, and such gems as "baby-bear", "mama-bear", and "papa-bear" as the names for the media queries). I spent an hour and a half of trying to debug errors and eventually emailed the lead dev to see if he had any insight, to which he replied "oh, it's not designed to work on Windows."
Basically, everything wrong with the current state of WordPress development in a nutshell (not surprising that their portfolio is riddled with errors).
