      Software Engineer Interview

      24 Sept 2015
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Keen (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2014

      Interview

Numerous conversations with the founding team, both over the phone/email and in-person in San Francisco. Keen IO holds a weekly gathering of its team called Anxious & Excited to which they invite all prospective hires to attend as a part of their interview. Team members share their anxieties, and their excitement about work and personal topics, and have no problem doing so in front of strangers, especially potential candidates. The interview process was clearly setup to set the candidate at ease while showing them the human side of the company. Technical questions were asked and answered during the process, but there was no coding interview. It was more along the lines of "does this person really know what they're talking about?" rather than "show me how to solve this specific coding problem".
