      Loan Analyst Interview

      29 Feb 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pittsburgh, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kiavi (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jan 2020

      Interview

There's no real process. After reading other reviews, it's clear that they're almost clueless when it comes to recruiting process based on demographic. They have no interest in your interview skills or your background. I only made it to the second phone call, but from what several friends who also got rejected told me, the third interview is on site, in which five different people ask you the same basic questions for three hours. From there, some head representative decides if they like you or not. The first phone call was a basic screen call about what you do and why you want to work here. The second call is with the department's team lead. I got a call from a woman who was on speaker phone in the distance the whole time and sounded totally disinterested in what I had to say in any regard. No introduction, didnt say who she was, just jumped straight into asking me what I do currently, which I've already answered the first time around. The questions had absolutely NO depth. I didnt get to answer or say anything that I haven't already spoken about during the first brief phone screen. Let me also say that this call was 8 minutes! Where in 8 minutes are you supposed to decide whether or not you've found a matching candidate? A day or so later I recieved the generic rejection email, telling me that they came to this conclusion after "careful consideration". Not sure what there was to consider seeing as they didn't take the time to meet me, they didn't ask anything beyond basic intro questions, and they essentially disregarded any qualifying attributes that match what they're looking for. The email also said that they recieved "many qualified applicants" and that the process is very "competitive". You can see it yourself, the listings have been up for over 3/4+ months and many colleagues of mine have gone through the same interview process just to be rejected the same way. A coworker of mine had over 10 years experience in banking and loans and was rejected. With that, I'd like to add that there seems to be a lot of defense on this site from the company regarding diversity, however, if you take a look at the "leadership" section on their own website and see for yourself, you'll notice something quite particular about that lineup. I'll leave it at that. Just some food for thought. This city in particular is about community and these tech companies stroll in and raise their structures soley to exploit cheap labor, all while shutting down any local, working class individual interested in taking part in what they're building. What they're looking for doesn't reside in this city. We're hard working, honest people, and all these companies want is an easy path to build themselves up to the next level and then they're gone. Don't believe it? Check out No Wait (already gone), uber, Duolingo, and of course Amazon.

Thank you for your detailed comments and feedback, we truly appreciate it. We strive to create a great candidate experience and I'm sorry we didn't deliver on that for you. We will discuss your feedback internally with the team. We do have a pretty structured process in place in terms of the areas we assess and the question we ask in each stage, and we'll revisit that to make sure it's not duplicative. We will also work on the engagement and energy of our interviewers and make sure it's a positive experience for our candidates. I do want to call out a few things in response so some of your feedback: * We have grown the loan processing team 2-3x in the last year and so we're continuously hiring for this role. We're not just leaving it posted as this review seems to imply * Our leadership team is quite diverse actually. Our executive team is 50/50 female/male, and we have all age groups and multiple ethnicities represented at all levels of leadership. * We may reject candidates with plenty of experience, as we also assess for behavioral aspects, which is part of our interview process.

      Interview

Very structured and well thought out. I could tell they are trying to find the right person and not just someone to fill an open chair. This interview was made up of a mix of different levels of management both over the phone and on video. The interviewers were all very well trained and personable. They kept it conversational and didn’t ask the standard interview questions. Very very well thought out process!

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kiavi in Mar 2022

      Interview

I applied and Brandon reached out to me same day. We scheduled a phone call for a few days later, which lead to a 1 on 1 interview with a team lead. That call was on a Friday, and on Monday morning Kellie reached out to set up a final interview round which consisted of 3, 30 min interviews with a 10 min break in between. I was presented with an itinerary in advance and had a prep call with Brandon to go over the interview format and address any questions. The interviews were casual and I did not ever get the sense that I was trying to be "tricked" or grilled. Everyone was very genuine in wanting to learn more about me and share about themselves and Kiavi. The process was clear, efficient and expeditious.

      Interview

The interview process was rigorous but each interviewer was personable, encouraging, and easy to communicate with. First interview was with recruiting, 2nd with a team Lead, then the final was a 3 part, 30 minute each zoom call with 3 different managers, including one senior manager. The process was long but I can tell that do this to ensure they get the right talent.
