      Remote Fullstack Developer Interview

      7 May 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Kodify

      Interview

First of all I had an interview with HR which helped me understand a bit more about the company and the role. Week after that I had an interview with a couple of guys from the tech team to talk about my experience, and also to go through some basic questions. Next step was a coding exercise, which I had a week to work on. Once I submitted it, I had a final interview with the tech guys, where we discussed my exercise and went through some more specific questions about the technologies involved in the job. In all 3 steps I also had the chance to ask questions, which they were always happy to answer.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kodify (Barcelona) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I had 2 interviews, one with the Technical recruiter which went great, and was a good experience, followed by one with two members of the technical team which went fine as well. After that, I was sent a take home exercise and was told the next step was a code review regarding my technical test. I sent the test and I was thrown out without even being given the oportunity to discuss my code because "the solution was hard to follow". While companies look for employees who will challenge their thinking with new ideas and new ways of looking at familiar situations and stive to create an environment in which different approaches are welcomed, be advised that it is not the case at Kodify.

We enjoyed our interview with you, and from our notes, you came across as a very professional and competent candidate. As was stated in the interview process, we only offer a final interview to people who pass the technical test, and unfortunately, the solution you provided was not up to the coding standards we expected. The reason we do the technical test as a remote exercise is to see what candidates produce when working on their own (as the role is remote also), and we expect that without guidance, a developer would produce good quality code. As in this case, if the code isn’t of quality we expected, unfortunately, this was the end of the interview process. Once again, thank you for your time throughout the process.
