      I interviewed at Leading EDJE

      Interview

Conversational - screening, fit, then technical. Fewer rounds than other places, less focused on rote or mechanical coding skills or leetcode style interviewing than explanation, behavioral, or scenario based questions.

What technical solution were you most proud of?

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Leading EDJE in Apr 2023

      Interview

My interview was about two years ago, so the process may have changed since then. It started with a phone screen with the recruiter, followed by a full video interview with him. He had another recruiter he was training with him on the video. Then, I had a technical interview with two developers (also via video), which focused not only on coding but also on situational problem-solving. Finally, I interviewed with two managers over video. The other interviews included many questions about my past experience and how I would handle specific situations. Overall, the process was very thorough.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The most challenging and insightful question actually came from the recruiter. He asked if I had ever been pressured to take the fast route instead of the right one. I had encountered that situation a few times, but answering was tricky. I didn’t want to speak negatively about a past employer, so I gave little informatoin about the situation. He pressed me for more detail, and assured me that I didn't have to say where it happend. I'm not sure I gave him what he wanted, but he moved me to the next step, so I assume I did. The technical questions were not easy, but they allowed me to walk through my thought process, so it wasn't bad.

Thank you for sharing your experience and providing detailed feedback on our interview process. We strive to ensure that our process is thorough so we can find the right match for new potential EDJErs, and we appreciate your insights. The question you referenced about being pressured to take the fast route instead of the right one ties directly to one of our core values: Do the right thing… not just the right-now thing. We take great pride in our core values and integrate them into our interview process to ensure that every potential EDJEr understands their importance in our culture and client interactions. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback—we truly appreciate it!

      Sr. Solutions Developer Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Leading EDJE

      Interview

The interview process consisted of three rounds. The first was a behavioral interview with HR consisting of one person. The goal of this interview I was told was to ensure a solid cultural fit. The second was with two delivery leaders. I was told this was also to ensure culture fit but may include some high level technical questions regarding my background. The third was with two other developers. This was the technical interview. The interview was exceedingly open ended. You are tasked with going over your background while going as deep you want with the technical details. This lack of structure to the interview threw me off slightly and the primary interviewer seemed disinterested from the beginning. Ultimately, it felt as though I wasted a lot of my time interviewing with this company only to encounter condescending and awkward gatekeeping in the end.

Explain an instance where you made a mistake. How did you handle it and what did you learn from it?

Thank you for taking the time to go through our interview process and for sharing your experience. At Leading EDJE, our standard interview process typically includes three rounds, as you described—each with a specific purpose: cultural alignment, delivery leadership alignment, and technical assessment. We're sorry to hear that the structure of the final round felt unclear or unhelpful. While we aim to keep technical interviews conversational and open-ended to allow candidates to showcase their strengths in their own way, we understand that this format doesn’t work well for everyone and appreciate the feedback. It’s important to note that most of our candidate communication—including feedback—is handled through the recruiting firm that submitted the candidate. We're not certain which firm you were working with, but we encourage you to reach out if you feel anything was unclear or incomplete. As mentioned during the process, one of our core values at Leading EDJE is Keep It Real. We strive to be transparent, respectful, and authentic in all of our interactions—internally and externally. We take this seriously and welcome constructive conversations to help us improve.
