The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Liftoff (Seattle, WA)
Interview
They contacted me to see if I'd like to interview. They sent a link where I could select times for a phone screen. But then they didn't send a confirmation, and I didn't hear for them for a month, after the selected time had passed. I'm not sure why they used Hangouts for the call. If it's audio only anyway, just use a phone. I'm not sure what they were using with Hangouts, but the audio was horrible. The interviewer told me he liked my answers to the soft skill questions, and that I wrote out his preferred solution for the coding problem. But, it was really odd when I'm talking throughout the problem, and the interviewer wasn't saying anything. It seemed like he decided to go back to work for a while. And the coding problem wasn't anything practical or useful, it basically just tested if I could use for loops. I was happy to get off this call and stop wasting my time.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us; we are sorry to read your experience wasn't a positive one.
To address the points you raised: 1) All interviews scheduled are finalized with a confirmation email to candidate; we're not sure what happened in your case but we're sorry to read your experienced frustrations there; 2) We switched to using Google Audio Hangouts based on feedback and overall quality experience in mind; it's been working well across the board, so it's unfortunate you had a different experience; 3) Interviewer engagement -- we can assure you that an interviewer wouldn't go back to work during an interview as this goes against our internal training and best practices. However, to be extra clear in this regard, we've taken your feedback and will be making extra adjustments.
Thank you again and we wish you the best of luck with the rest of your search!
