I applied on a Japanese job website. The head of human resources contacted me afterwards, she expressed her intention to interview me.
First interview was on Skype video call, it consisted of a few typical interview questions like "Tell me about yourself", "Tell me about your past experiences", "What was your highest achievement" etc. and also a few prepared technical questions based on the job specification like Java EE technologies and Linux commands, I don't exactly remember what they were, but they were closely related to the technologies mentioned in the job specification.
A week after the first interview she told me she wanted to schedule a second interview.
Second interview was also on Skype video call, the interviewer was the Team Lead / Manager, a technical person, the whole interview which lasted about an hour consisted of all technical stuff mostly about basic Java knowledge, for instance "What is inheritance", "How does constructor work", "When and how does Garbage Collection work", etc. much more technical than the first interview.
At the end of second interview, the interviewer told me that I was doing quite well and he looked satisfied.
2 days after second interview I was notified that I made it and they would like to conduct a final interview directly with their client (which was Ericsson) but they were waiting for Ericsson's response.
2 weeks elapsed without any update and I followed them up, the head of human resources told me that Ericsson liked me and saw me as a strong candidate but they were undergoing internal changes that was delaying my third interview, I was asked to wait for a few weeks.
3 weeks after that, there was still no update and I followed them up, and shockingly the head of human resources replied quickly that they had canceled the role because Ericsson had issue with funding and they canceled new hires.
I was looking forward to it, and I could accept the fact that I didn't make it due to unforeseen circumstances, but I couldn't get over the fact about why they waited for me to follow up before giving me the update. (Why did they keep silent about it until the candidate asked?)
