Three stages,
First stage competency based with HR who was a really nice man. Easy to talk to and was a relaxing session. Standard questions of competency.
Second stage was with the new manager and director who wanted to drill into the competencies. Put 1 hour in the calendar and was constantly rushed for time. No time to get to know one another. Almost like they didn’t trust HR to assess the competency. Should drop this stage.
Third stage was case-study, phone call late Thursday, to present Next Wed which was no time at all. Then phone call the next day to bring it forwards to Tuesday! I’d already given up my weekend, so might as well have it sooner. Case-study was in two parts, first question very misleading, second question OK.
Drove 200 mile round trip to meet in Coventry, office was a mess (must of made cleaners redundant) but the two guys interviewing seemed nice. Booked in 1.5 hours.
Presentation was Ok but, I took the questions in a different direction. Received Ok, but a little bit rude in feedback. Didn’t seem like good listeners.
Surprise case-study which was fine.
Then interview cut short as another meeting was scheduled in.
Overall, no offer but on the drive home. I think I would’ve declined it. I got the vibe of a gentleman’s club, and if you failed, you’d be thrown under the bus.
Pros:
- Lovely HR
- Seem like they want to improve as a company
- Transparent process, although too long
- Good learning experience
- Open and honest questions and answers
- Some good discussions
Cons:
- No interview expenses paid
- Didn’t seem like there was a trust between staff to just have two stages. Took up a lot of time.
- No COVID guidelines before interview
- Office was a genuine mess and smelt bad
- Can’t deny that the company is currently making a loss
- Got the vibe of the bosses way or the high way
- Couldn’t inform of benefits during interview
Wish Pendragon good luck in the future :)
