I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lodgify
Interview
First stage: a quick 15 min call with the HR.
Second stage: Coding task that might take couple of evenings to solve. It included tasks such as feature implementation, refactoring, issue detection and bug fixing.
Third stage: a technical interview with live coding with 2 developers and theoretical questions.
This stage for me had a negative experience because:
1. They give you practical task that take several evenings to solve and then they also add a live coding task (which in most companies is optional - you choose live coding or practical task).
2. They even didn't bother to discuss your solution on this interview stage. Don't even mention it. Disrespectful. (Of course they did send feedback about what they liked in my solution with a reject email saying that I did well there, but failed the theory part).
3. They ignore your background experience. Disrespectful. Instead they ask you theoretical questions. It reminded me interview on a trainee position with the same questions and live coding task, the difference was that I didn't need to spend my time on practical task and I didn't have experience at all but had a good theory base as fresh university graduate. Now I am thinking that I easily could make-up my CV back than when I didn't have any experience at all and apply for Senior position.
4. They ask questions about how collections internally implemented by Microsoft. In the real world of Information Technologies century I don't need to keep all information in my head, I only need to know where to look and how to apply it.
5. One of the interviewers where too focused on a single question and tried to push it deeper and deeper.
6. It seemed that there was only one right answer (the one that interviewer wanted to hear despite the subjectivity of questions).
7. The interview went over the booked time frame and lasted for almost two hours. Taking in consideration practical exercise and time to review it, they waste around half of the working day to interview one candidate.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Lodgify in Oct 2024
Interview
They don't give the salary range until the end of the screening call.
Salary band that I consider low for the senior position they're looking for.
They should say the salary range in advance. Nevertheless, given that they request for the interviewee salary expectations, if they see a misalignment, they should discuss that matter as soon as possible.
