Absolutely horrible experience. Lyzr is a funded company that's pretty vocal on celebrating their achievements on LinkedIn; so naturally, I thought this was a high-performance org looking for A-Stars to join their team. Boy, was I wrong.
After seeing a hiring post by the hiring manager (Department Head), I got on call with them the next day because they liked my resume. During the call, we spoke about my experience some more, and they explained the kind of opening within the team. However, since it was very nascent - there was no JD yet, but they were interested in fast tracking my application as they "don't believe in wasting time if they see the right potential in candidates" (their words, not mine).
During the call, they outlined quite a detailed task pertaining to the role itself; one that would require 4-5 hours to do justice to. Even though there was no JD, I agreed to submit the task within 48 hours (on a Saturday). While this should've been a red flag, I chose to give them the benefit of doubt and shared my task during the stipulated time frame, while they also agreed to share a WIP JD by then.
Fast forward to 10 days later, and after multiple follow-ups - not only did I not get a JD, but the hiring manager casually mentions that the role is no longer open because they "already have someone on the team to do the work". This is such a cheap way to extract free work from candidates - the task wasn't even neutral, it was very specific to their pain point, and also involved actual usage of their product.
If you are interviewing with this company, DO NOT invest a single second of your time/effort into the process, UNLESS you get a written version of the JD and that your comp expectations matches their budget. Absolutely pathetic experience overall.
