Interview
it was fine -the normal, expected questions. journalists as a rule are great in a job interview p process and i actually enjoyed it. it was pleasant and friendly, not hard hitting and overall a good experience
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at MSNBC (New York, NY) in Nov 2021
Interview
I had three rounds of interviews with a writing test in between. The recruiter was very nice, responsive and I got a sense that she was genuinely trying to help me. When I was done with three rounds, reopening plans got postponed once again everywhere in NYC because of the omicron variant. So my guess is that the pandemic could have something to do with the fact that I didn’t get an offer. Several weeks later, the same recruiter referred me to a similar role, convincing the hiring manager to skip the first two rounds as well as a writing assignment. (The latter was a standard test to figure out whether a candidate understands how to write for TV. So it was easy to complete, but it was a quite time-consuming task because you’re supposed to monitor news for an entire day to ensure you include latest updates in the final version of your stories.) So I interviewed with another hiring manager who was nice too. But then, everyone just disappeared for two months, including the recruiter. I ended up getting a letter of rejection when I was about to accept an offer from another company.
