IT Asset and IT Support Assistant Manager Interview

      22 Feb 2025

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at MUFG (London, England) in Feb 2025

      Interview

I would like to express how disappointed I am with the hiring process used by this company. My most recent applications was for the post of IT Asset and IT Support Assistant Manager. Initially, I received two phone calls from the agent inviting me to his first interview with his agency manager. She told me she will set up an official interview with the hiring managers as soon as possible and was really kind and lovely to speak to. Yes, it happened quite fast, and I had an interview with the current Desk Support Manager and an HR representative. In addition to being kind and easy to talk to, they surprise asked me a lot of questions, mostly about my soft skills. In my opinion, the HR representative took over the interview and asked me a lot more questions than the Desk Support Manager, who should have been the one who recruited someone to help her. It was an hour and thirty-five minutes long. I think I responded to maybe 20 of their questions. They agreed to updating me early the next week and providing the agent with their evaluation of my performance during the interview as soon as possible. But regrettably, that never happened. Nevertheless, on the same day/afternoon I thank that agent for setting up that opportunity in the first place and look forward to hearing back from him. Regretfully, I followed up with him at least three times in the course of the next week via message and a few phone calls to get his feedback on how I performed during the interview. The only message I got from him was his promised that he will get in touch with me first thing the next day. That call never took place. Two weeks have passed with no response at all. The entire hiring process seemed to me as quite unprofessional, unfair, and disheartening. In this day and age of job hunting, at least a phone call with the standard line of "there was somebody with more experience appointed this time, etc." will be preferable to no contact at all. It's a great shame that organizations like MUFG don't hire directly instead of using unreliable agents who only tick boxes when they call upon fairness and encourage people from various backgrounds to apply. If I were to see or hear such assurances again, I would be quite sceptical. Before applying for a position at MUFG, I hope that my comments may help someone think things through. Additionally, I noticed on your portal that some interviews lasted up to five sessions, which must be really difficult to prepare for.
