I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mapbox in Apr 2025
Interview
Met with passive aggressive recruiter who was correcting some words on how I had worked on specific things with over 15 years of engineering experience. I thought to myself it's not a big deal since I'll never deal with the recruiter after starting the job. Proceeded to the first round which was a live coding challenge with one of the other Platform Engineers. I completed the challenge, asking questions, talking aloud, and was allowed to look up things in the official docs(used w3schools). The interviewer even stated I could use the AI from Google's search, even though I would scroll away before it loaded just in case that was a disqualifier. Finished the interview with 15 minutes left and had written tests. No feedback here if I had missed anything and the code worked. I got a rejection email the next day. Thank you for rejecting me, probably dodged a bullet here.

Question 1
They asked me a high order retry function. It takes a function as an argument, returns whether or it failed. If it fails N(in this case 3) number of retries, it returns the fail and error. If it was successful it returns the result as well. Default arguments where you could pass in your own arguments for number of retries was optional.
