I applied online. I interviewed at Mariano's (Skokie, IL) in Mar 2018
Interview
First there was a phone interview and they asked three generic questions: why Marianos, what retail experience I had, and if I was comfortable working overnight. Next was an in person interview at the store and I was asked questions from a large packet that the interviewer had to fill out. They asked about my past job experience, asked why Marianos again, and times I’ve helped a customer if something, if ever. Then there was a final interview with the Store Director, which was a little more personal. They asked me about my hobbies and was more interested in getting to know my personality.
awful someone else was there who also had just gotten "hired" begging to be put on the schedule i obviously didn't get on the schedule either ! it was a ridiculous process wasted time

I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Mariano's in Mar 2023
Interview
Easy, basically was hired during the first interview. They talk about the union and also their drug test. They also discuss if you have any criminal record or not and they will background check you.
Fairly easy, energetic very detailed. However they don’t tell you everything . They are union based and that can be a good thing but also bad. Walked the store and departments.
