I applied online. I interviewed at MathWorks (Arlington, TX) in Mar 2017
Interview
After the behavioral section, got a mail- hackerrank request to be done within a week.
It consisted of 3 sections.
a. math/probability multiple choice questions (about 7-8)- 20 minutes
b. coding challenge- pick one language from- python/matlab- 30 minutes.
c. coding challenge- pick one language from- c/c++, java, javascript- 30 minutes
the python section was easy to moderate
java section was difficult- involved oops, threads, usage of java keywords, access specifiers.
Both the sections had 2 'write a program' question each followed by multiple choice questions...
if you picked c/c++ expect the same level of difficulty as that of java.
A phone technical interview after that.. drilled on more concepts and twisted scenarios.
No matter how good you are, they will eventually reject you. I wonder who even gets through. I've seen the best I know not clear the tech phone round.
IMO, this is a senseless approach to interviewing and that no one will have an equal good understanding of two languages at a time.. eg- python versus java/c++ are at two ends of the spectrum.
You may get disappointed after they reject you, wondering where did you go wrong, but its ok. Apply elsewhere. Spend your energy of other things..
All the best!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Behavioral questions same as what others have mentioned.
There were three phases for recruiting procedures. The first stage was a brief and relaxing conversation, the second stage was about technical things and hiring manager asked several questions in the third stage.
