I applied online. I interviewed at MathWorks (Natick, MA) in Oct 2018
Interview
HR contacted me the same day I submitted my CV. A phone interview with the hiring manager was scheduled within days. A 45-min initial phone interview. A few days later, HR scheduled a 2-hr session of one-on-one interviews with Sales department senior managers. The following week, HR asked me to deliver a CV presentation for a group interview with all mid-level and junior managers of the Sales Dept. Immediately followed by 30-min one-on-one interviews with each of the mid-level and junior managers. That was a 9am to 3pm in person interview! The process was ridiculously long. However, it afforded me a glimpse of the Sales team dynamic. While MathWorks is a highly regarded, culturally diverse company in Boston, its Sales division left A LOT to be desired. The Sales team comes across as a proud "Family & Friends" clique. There is an apparent disconnect between the diverse, inclusive, hands-on team work culture in the engineering and operations divisions vs the popularity contest and high school gossip going on in the Sales division. A complete turn-off!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
"Did they [senior management] explain all that they plan to dump on your plate as soon as you start? The lady before you resigned on a short notice. Something about her personal life, which we should tell you, came to surface. So she left, leaving most projects in limbo and you will have to pick up the pieces. I would give that great thought if I were you." -- junior manager
