I didn't apply, they reached out to me through the phone call. I guess they found my resume on one of the job sites.
They asked if I am interested in software defined storage. I said that I am interested. They invited me on-site almost the next day, without any phone screens.
In their office I talked to one of the engineers. He told me about the company, and asked me usual coding questions, something about the binary tree search.
Then their HR lady came in, asked me about my salary expectation, and I gave her the number. Then she tried to bargain, saying that I don't have storage experience, therefore she wants to lower the number. I explained to her that I have a lot of various experience in a variety of similar fields, and it wouldn't be reasonable to lower it just because I didn't work on storage before.
Then she said that she will pass my information the her boss who is in China, and he will call me.
Nobody called from China, and my request for feedback remained unanswered.
It doesn't make sense to invite people to their office who they themselves chose based on their resumes, and then trying to bargain with them because their experience doesn't match what they need.
They dropped because I refused to bargain, and didn't provide any feedback.
