I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Cleveland, OH) in Feb 2021
Interview
It was a standard phone screening process with a member of their HR team. They were pleasant to speak to and provided great information about the company. They reviewed the benefits of the organization which sounded very good.

Question 1
What was a recent project outside of work that you worked on?
Initial screen with a recruiter and then a 2.5 hour interview on site with behavioral questions, mock work situations, and a tour. They were upfront about the interview process and it was easy to schedule.

Question 1
Tell us about a time that you had to prioritize and the outcome.
Multiple interviews following a tour of the facility. Interviews were separated by a long gap with the candidate left alone in a conference room adjacent to the bullpen. Strange, two sentence writing prompt that applies to multiple scenarios.

Question 1
How would your current role apply to this position?
Went through 2 rounds of hour long interviews, an application, and a writing prompt. Promptly responding to followups and additional requests, only to receive a generic rejection email. It feels so incredibly disrespectful to not even get the courtesy of a phone call, after you set aside time energy and effort to be available for hours out of your day. Especially in the current climate where the average candidate is making is spending the hourly equivalent of a full time job just applying for jobs. It’s frustrating to give your absolute best for an interview and then get some scripted letter in return.
