      Proofreader Interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Elmhurst, IL) in Jun 2011

      Interview

I was contacted by HR and asked if I would be willing to do a brief phone interview. The phone interview was relatively simple - I was asked why I left my last place of employment and where else I was applying specifically. The woman I spoke with described the job in greater detail and asked me to come in for an interview. The interview lasted about three hours and consisted of speaking with four people individually and taking a skills test. Essentially I felt that each person I spoke with was either trying to talk me out of the position or was more interested in going to lunch than conducting an interview. I also realized that the title "Proofreader" is extremely misleading - there is very little proofreading done in this position, which I wish I had known ahead of time.
