The review process is weird. No direct communication with anyone, and they didn’t have me really talk about my work directly with a person. It felt very cold and impersonal.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked about harsh criticism, which I have no problem with, but then I read reviews that said the the criticisms were not constructive and overly critical.
Unfortunately what you experienced is a fake job posting scam (https://www.indeed.com/community/interview-tips/gmail-google-hangout-job-interviews-scam/td-p/1549927/page/11) and we’ve seen it on Indeed and LinkedIn. This is unrelated to Media Genesis and not from any of our legitimate outreaches. Where our name has been used we have reported the issues to Indeed and LinkedIn. When applying to Media Genesis, I encourage you to apply directly through our website at https://mediag.com/careers/. I can assure you we don’t use an automated approach to hiring talent.
the company president and a senior level project manager interviewed me. It was a pretty easy interview. They simplified the job and make it look easier than it was. They did not say that you basically have to become a website expert and will need to get comfortable talking about technology - and yet there is no training.
Interview seemed more like they wanted to know what my past employers were doing in their business practices/process rather than focusing on my skills or what I did at those companies. (One interviewer was polite and professional. He did ask those types of questions but the intent from the other interviewer seemed to be on a past employer I interned with).
I had to explain a few industry terms to one of the higher ups, who was also rude and asked inappropriate questions about my previous experience- insinuating that they weren't "real" jobs while asking about my taxes or wanted to know how I got the reputable jobs. No communication or follow-up after the interview.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience in the interview process. While we do like to better understand candidates and how their past experiences can shape their possible role with us, we never want the experience to feel invasive. We are just trying to understand what you have done in the past, what range of services/software you have experience with, and how that may apply within our working environment.
