There were three rounds of interviews. One with recruiter, one with direct report and one with co-founder. All interviews were around 30 min long. The process took a few weeks.
I applied online. I interviewed at Mediacurrent (Vancouver, WA) in Feb 2020
Interview
Initial phone call with in-house HR, then a phone call with creative director. A design challenge was then given consisting of three deliverables. Virtual meeting with team of six scheduled to present ideas and feedback. All went well and the people were all nice and seemed like a good team to join.
In the end, it was a canned 'thank you, but..' response which wasn't expected in this exact case since I was issued a task and then presented to multiple people. Despite direct emails to HR, it really seemed to break the affinity and partial connections made with all the people in the process. Much more professional to have been addressed by a person than the typical mass-and-general email address. Again, only because it went further than just an "initial discussion."
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Many questions, but one related to design challenge was, "why did you choose the larger size for the extra video you made?" Just wanted to hear more rationale and it was appropriate.

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Mediacurrent (Atlanta, GA)
Interview
Initial phone screen with HR. The call was not conversational at all. Seemed very scripted overall. It came across as simply asking questions from a given list, vs trying to genuinely understand or dive deeper beyond those given questions. Felt like these were simple check box questions.
Was very interested in the company and opportunity but the initial call made me question whether the company culture as a whole was this impersonal and disengaged. Sent follow up emails and received no response from HR until I reached out a second time. Once I was finally rejected from the process after a month with no feedback both of the emails were automated responses. I get that personal emails cannot be sent out to everyone due to sake of time, but if a candidate is asking for feedback, you should be able to respond with a targeted response vs a canned automatic reply in fear of avoiding a lawsuit or something.
But I do wish the company the best of luck in the future and was sincerely interested and excited about the organization/opportunity.
Thank you for taking the time to share your concern. To start off, we sincerely apologize for the experience you had and will use this as a learning opportunity. We are committed to improving our candidate experience.
