I had a phone call with a recruiter. Throughout the call, the recruiter kept emphasizing how impressed he was with my background, and mentioned my experience with machine learning. I have no machine learning experience, so I was confused. Then he asked "So, how long have you been at Google?" I have never worked at Google; the recruiter had very obviously confused me with someone else. We had a brief, awkward conversation after I corrected him and I didn't hear back from them after the call.
