I recently had an interview experience that was quite disappointing and frustrating. Initially, I was scheduled for a face to face interview with multiple interviewers, but when the time came, not all but one was present. This left me feeling disappointed, as I had prepared to address a panel, not just one or two people.
After this incomplete interview, I was informed that I would need to participate in a second round of interviews to cover what was missed. This meant taking additional time off from my current job, which is not ideal given that annual leave is limited and valuable.
The second interview was scheduled to be conducted over a video conference. However, on the day of the interview, I was informed that the hiring manager was too busy to join the call. Instead, I ended up having a brief phone call with another team member. This phone interview felt rushed and informal, and I didn't get the comprehensive discussion I was hoping for.
In the end, I felt that my time and effort were not respected. I had wasted two days of annual leave and invested significant time preparing for what I hoped would be a thorough and engaging interview process. Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. This experience has left me with a negative impression of the hiring process and the interviewer, and I hope they take steps to improve this for future candidates.
