I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Mila (Canada) in Jan 2023
Interview
The interview process was hybrid and included a phone screening, virtual interview, in-person interview, and remote skills assessment. The in-person interview was very uncomfortable. The questions were standard interview questions but were asked in a very confrontational manner and the interviewer wasn't sure what my name was during the interview. A staff member from the HR team was present and apologized to me as I was being walked out for the standoffish behaviour of the interviewer.
I applied online. I interviewed at Mila (Canada) (Montreal, QC)
Interview
The interview process consisted of several stages. It began with a video call, which served as an initial screening to discuss my background, skills, and experience. After successfully completing that, I was invited for an in-person interview. I understood that the next step would typically involve a second in-person interview, but I was not invited to proceed to this stage.
From what I was informed, the process also included a test to assess technical or practical skills and required the submission of a portfolio showcasing relevant work. The final stages involved an additional in-person interview with key team members for a deeper evaluation of fit for the role. Although I didn’t complete the entire process, I appreciated the clarity and structure of the steps outlined.

Standard pytorch questions with some math and CS. Overall was not difficult if you have used pytorch regularly. Math questions on regression and classification. Some coding questions but they were more to test if you had a grasp of the language and not a leet code style round
