I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Milestone Church (Keller, TX) in Jan 2025
Interview
My interview process began positively, but scheduling and communication quickly became very, very challenging. It took nearly two weeks to confirm my initial interview date, and on the morning of that interview, just five minutes before it was set to begin, I was asked to reschedule for unclear reasons. Ultimately, it took about another month before my first interview actually occurred (so a month and a half in all of just waiting).
Over the course of three interviews, communication remained inconsistent and delayed, and the overall process felt disorganized. In my final interview, I was asked about my location, and only then was it mentioned that they typically do not hire candidates from outside the Church. After that, I never received any follow-up after they told me I would be hearing back within three business days.
I felt this policy could have been communicated much earlier to save both parties 3 months worth of time. While I respect their right to set internal guidelines, the lack of transparency and professionalism was disappointing, especially since my husband and I were actively planning to move to the area and find a new home church.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Milestone Church (Keller, TX) in Aug 2021
Interview
Over the course of a couple of months, I interviewed with several different people about the position. They also provided me the opportunity to speak with other staff members that had previously left the business world for a ministry position.

Interview
Constructive criticism for the interview process:
1. Try to be more specific on how long the process is going to take, rather than saying, “it’s a long interview process.”
2. After completing tasks in the interview process, it would be helpful to hear an estimate on how many days it will take to hear back, and not something along the lines of, “I’ll get back to you soon.”
3. After a prospect has spent several hours completing tasks, feedback would help the prospect improve skills or give them a better idea if they are moving on to the next step of the interview.
4. If you’ve got a lot going on that day, try to not cram a prospect into your schedule. That way you won’t be an hour late or not be able to make the meeting with them at all. I think it’s important a prospect feels like a high priority.
5. Good communication would help maintain a healthy relationship with members of your church applying to jobs.
6. Don’t try to set up phone calls if you aren’t able/going to follow through with it.
7. Don’t make prospects (members of your church) assume they didn’t get the job because you ended communication with them. A short and simple email explaining you went with someone else would make a big difference after putting them through a 2 month interview process.
Nobody is perfect, (not even Christians) but I think more communication and organization will improve the entire interview process. And as Christians I think it’s important to try to live out this verse to the best that we can, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you” Matthew 7:1
