The interview would be a fatal miscommunication. I made it into the second interview phase. Strangely enough, I had to explain or rather justify why, as someone who is not only interested in German and European political and economic contexts, but also has time and curiosity for India, China and Russia, I dare to venture into the sacred halls of political advice in Germany knocking. I did not understand how a partner could not understand that someone studied political science in Germany and is able to grasp and understand contexts in distant political and cultural contexts, and how these skills could also be transferred to the German domestic political context in a relevant manner. Despite three interviewers, two male partners and a female HR, ultimately only one gentleman spoke for everyone.
