Of the seven or so interviews that I have made it to the 2nd round, this was the worst experience. I'd like to attribute it to the merger of Merck KgA and Millipore Sigma but it has been 3 years since that. It seemed to be the case of the hiring manager not in communication with the human resources rep. It involved 2 interviews first, one with human resources and one with the hiring manager. They invited me out to St. Louis for an on-site interview. All of the interactions seemed lukewarm at best, as though the employees were being forced by human resources to hire for this position. In any case, I still did the best I could and the hiring manager said I would hear from them in a week. What followed, for the next 8 weeks, was "we'll let you know next week" kind of thing. It was just bad communication. I finally got notification that I didn't get the job. I think I would have turned it down even if I got an offer after so many red flags of a dysfunctional work environment.
