"Disorganized and Long-Drawn-Out Interview Process"
I went through a lengthy interview process with this company that stretched over two months. Here’s how it went:
Online Assessment (OA):
One very basic coding question. It was easy enough that anyone with basic coding experience could solve it.
Hiring Manager Round:
This was more of a conversation about my previous experience and general questions like "Why do you want to join us?" Nothing particularly challenging here.
Coding Round:
I was asked to debug a piece of buggy code. The logic was similar to a LeetCode Medium problem with a slight twist. It wasn’t difficult and was fairly straightforward to solve.
System Design Documentation (High-Level Design):
This round involved reviewing documentation for an image service with a CDN and providing comments. The issue was that the documentation was already well-done, so there wasn’t much room to contribute.
The one point of contention was about handling caching for updated images. I proposed a design where image references are updated dynamically, which I felt solved the issue effectively. Still, there wasn’t much else to discuss as the problem didn’t involve any major scalability or architectural challenges.
Code Refactor/Review Round (Low-Level Design):
This involved reviewing and refactoring a piece of code for a job-processing system. The code looked like it was written by an intern and needed significant improvements. This round was slightly better since there was at least something meaningful to work on.
The process was painfully slow, with one round every 10-15 days. By the time it ended, two months had already passed.
After the refactoring round, they completely ghosted me. HR had initially mentioned there would be a VP round and a behavioral round the following week, but no updates came after that.
To make it worse, the last interaction felt like they were more interested in getting my feedback on their interview process than actually hiring me.
I wouldn’t recommend interviewing here unless you’re certain they’re actively hiring. It felt like a waste of time, and the disorganized process left me questioning whether they were genuinely looking to fill roles.
