      Sales Development Representative Interview

      12 Oct 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Modernize (Austin, TX) in Jun 2017

      Interview

I went through an initial phone screen with HR, a phone interview with an overseeing manager, and a final interview at the Modernize office. I appreciated how quickly the process moved along and had great interactions with the HR team. The final interview was with 6 different people for 30 minutes each, so about 3 hours in total. The final interview seemed unnecessarily long with each 30 minute time slot only actually taking about 15-20 minutes and it was really hard to stay upbeat and "on" through such a long interview. The questions themselves were not that hard, they just felt somewhat redundant. It was nice to be able to meet so many of the people you would be working with through the short interviews with everyone. However, while four of the six people I interviewed with were kind and engaging, two were incredibly rude. One manager I interviewed with kept interrupting me as I answered his questions and just seemed very annoyed to be speaking with me. Another higher level manager that I interviewed with was shockingly rude. He was leaning back in his chair with his hands behind his head and kept repeating the same line, "name something you're good at", to which I responded and gave examples and he told me "I don't really see that, but ok." After this I was no longer expecting to receive an offer, but I had been told a manager and an HR rep that I would receive a call in the next week or so. I never even received so much as a generic rejection email.

      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      Interview

Throughout the interview process you meet with 5 different people one right after the other and they ask you questions about your resume, experience and what the company has to offer. You switch rooms occasionally which is a great way to see what the environment of the company is like and if it would be a good environment for you to work in.
