      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at National Grid

      Interview

Process was long but I was kept informed throughout - which I really appreciated. Initial interview was an HR screen to learn more why I clicked “Apply” to the specific job, review of expected salary and potential start date. Second interview was a phone call with the hiring manager. We walked through my resume and was asked questions about my experience, why I applied and where I’d like to go in my career (technical specialist or generalist). Third interview was a video call with a panel - the hiring manager, group director and team member. The questions were case study style. I was asked a problem statement and had to explain how I would approach the problem/explain my logic. During this interview I learned a lot about the position and the ways of working of the team. Behavioral questions were included as well. I visited the office for a casual tour and the opportunity to meet the hiring manager in person. I was offered the position over the phone with the initial HR contact I spoke with. Negotiation added just a few days to the process.
