      Vice President Interview

      Application

      I interviewed at National Grid

      Interview

Multiple levels of interviews, some in a group, some were 1:1. Pretty high level questions, although they did ask some specifics on the role. Each interview was 1 hour and they ended on time.

      Vice President Interview

      9 Feb 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at National Grid (Boston, MA) in Jan 2024

      Interview

Worst candidate experience ever. Pursued a VP position for 3+ months which I am qualified for, securing internal endorsements and regularly updating the hiring manager/recruiter along the way. Recruiter auto-applied me for a separate role without context (strange) and finally scheduled me for an interview for both roles with one hiring mgr. Interview was focused solely on second position, and when I asked about the original role, hiring manager was surprised and confirmed they were already in final stages of that hiring process, which I was apparently never considered for (without reason) despite my efforts and qualifications. This was embarassing and I had to chase the recruiter to figure out where the disconnect happened - and I was assured I was still in the running for both (?). Ultimately, I had to chase recruiter for their final decision (to not move forward) which was delivered to me in a one line email instead of phone call - after 3 months of consistently and actively pursuing this. There were several other red flags and recruiting missteps that I documented and sent to HR afterward, but it boiled down to a severe lack of communication between recruiter and hiring manager, which was terribly frustrating and ultimately a huge waste of time. I've worked at many large, international and complex organizations but none so disorganized as this one. If it's any indication of what working at the company is like, I do not recommend pursuing this employer.
