My experience with Nelnet Philippines’ recruitment process was one of the most frustrating I’ve encountered. From the beginning, it felt outdated and needlessly rigid. The HR personnel I interacted with seemed stuck in old-school hiring practices that don’t align with modern standards or candidate expectations.
They were incredibly specific and demanding, as if they expected applicants to already be fully immersed in their company culture, systems, and internal jargon before even getting past the initial screening. Instead of assessing potential and fit, it felt more like a pop quiz on Nelnet trivia.
The lack of flexibility and modern recruitment sensibilities made it clear that they are out of touch with today’s tech and professional landscape. It’s especially disappointing considering that Nelnet presents itself as a company in the education and financial technology space you’d expect a bit more innovation and openness.
Overall, it felt more like an interrogation than a hiring process. I hope they seriously reevaluate their recruitment strategy and take steps to modernize how they approach talent.
