This was for Dubai based startup for a remote position where they were hiring for remote developers from India. Two Rounds after initial screening call. First round was technical and second round was with CEO.
After both the rounds, they wanted to make an offer but before that, they wanted to do the background check. They asked for references of my reporting managers, 1 peer and 2 reports from my last two companies where I had worked. They sent out a detailed feedback email to all the references which included rating and feedback on my performance when I worked at those companies. I had received good feedback from all the references and Nomod wanted to move forward with offer. But it took them 13 days to make me a verbal offer. Their verbal offer seemed like they didn't want to hire employees for long term. It was six months contract with auto-renewal every six months. After negotiations we finalized the compensation. But they delayed the offer making an excuse of leave and they will send formal offer letter after 5 days. I waited but after 5 days after which they sent me a short email saying "we’ve unfortunately decided not to make you a formal offer".
The entire process took almost a month. Very unprofessional but looking at their first verbal offer, I got the sense that this company is not serious and not for serious employees.
