I was from out of state. I was found on LinkedIn by an outside hospital talent recruiter who noticed my year of experience as an oncology nurse. She conducted an initial phone screening. From there, I was screened by the BMT unit talent recruiter who then passed me on to a phone interview with the unit manager. The unit manager and I had a casual phone interview and then I was brought in (all expenses paid) from Illinois to Atlanta for a BMT unit interview. I was then interviewed by a panel which included the Department Manager of Oncology, BMT Unit Manager I phone interviewed with, the Clinical Supervisor, and the 2 Nurse Clinicians on the floor. I was asked the standard interview questions i.e. what made you choose nursing? Why oncology nursing? How do you handle stress? What makes you want to go into bone marrow transplant? How do you take criticism? What would you do in an emergency etc? I was immediately extended an offer and received an official online offer within 48 hours. They offered relocation and my dream job so I took it.
