Online application, Committee interview, Interview with Human Resources representative.
A VERY LONG unnecessary long and slow process. However, I was warned by others that Oakton Community College is very very very very slow and unorganized, and extremely slow to respond.
The committee seemed was obviously running off scripts when asking questions, and really didn't have the capabilities to handle anything out of their scripts. All the committee members were faculty members, some of which seemed VERY disinterested in the entire process. When I asked questions, which were ALL good questions, NO ONE was able to give a useful answer for anything. During my interview process with Oakton, I came to find that a new building that is being erected has several structural problems, perhaps a physical symbol of the problems Oakton has. I also learned that Oakton is in a flood plane and next to a very large garbage dump. A walk around campus revealed signage that part-time faculty are not treated well and other matters. Hmm... It didn't look good. Unfortunately, I invested much time into researching and looking into Oakton. It all turned out to be wasted time, as I eventually found out that after all, the position hiring process was rigged for a selected internal candidate right from the start.
