I applied for this position via Instant Impact, a recruitment company and was helped through this by one of their consultants. I first had a short telephone conversation with the recruiter who talked through my background and assessed my suitability for the role. I then had a further Skype interview with her so that she could learn more about me and to give me an opportunity to learn more about the company. Following this I had the opportunity to have a first stage interview with Octopus themselves, in which I spoke with one of the team leaders. This was a fairly relaxed conversation and was really helpful to understand the culture at Octopus and to see the enthusiasm of their employees, overall a very pleasant interview. Following this I was offered the opportunity to attend another interview with the Operations Manager of their Warwick office this time. This was again fairly relaxed though slightly more intense than the previous as Octopus offer feedback following your first interview which you will find you are very focused on acting on and demonstrating you have listened and understood them. Again, overall a very pleasant interview with them and a great opportunity to learn more about the journey this company has been on. Following this I had to take a verbal and numerical reasoning test which was fairly difficult and required a lot of revision but overall was nothing to be concerned about. I was lucky enough to be offered the position and really have to credit Instant Impact as prior to each stage of interview I was sent guidance and tips as to what might be useful to research and what experiences I may need to reflect on during the interview. I also had a preparation call with my Instant Impact contact Mollie prior to each interview and afterwards and she was fantastic in reassuring me where I felt I could have done better and in helping me to really reflect on the positive aspects of each stage. She was also fantastic in helping me prepare for the tests and offering encouragement and reassurance when I felt I hadn't done well in those. Overall this is easily the most helpful recruitment process I have been through to help me understand not only whether I am the right fit for the company but also whether they are the right fit for me. It can feel slightly long winded but if you are lucky enough to reach the end of it, I can confidently say you will really understand why that is and also appreciate the opportunity it gave you to really learn about the company rather than going into the job blind.
